What is your favorite program or service offering that CAP provides and why?

I think the beauty of CAP Sonoma is that it is not limited to one service, which would severely limit its impact.  It is the whole family approach, and the combination of valuable services we provide (housing, job services, childcare, family therapy, etc.) that enable CAP Sonoma to help families thrive, rather than just survive, causing waves of positive impact throughout the community.

CAP Sonoma has been in Sonoma County for over 55 years….how do you envision the organization serving the community for the next 55 years? Where do you want to see our energies and resources go? 

Under current leadership, I think CAP Sonoma is well on its way to continuing its mission to raise families from poverty, with a focus toward equity, compassion, respect, and education.

What is your favorite Sonoma County gem (a restaurant, park, hike, store, event, etc.) …that you enjoy with friends and family? 

Oh, there are so many!  I must give a shout-out to Canetti Roadhouse in Forestville, where Chef Francesco cooks beautiful Tuscan fare.  Lately, we have created many joyful memories with our four-year-old and her friends at Ragle Park in Sebastopol, celebrating birthdays, enjoying the playground and the sandbox, climbing trees, and riding bikes.

How did you hear about CAP Sonoma and what made you want to join the board? 

I heard about CAP Sonoma through RM Horrell, the Board’s dedicated and earnestly passionate leader.  After meeting Cynthia King (CAP Sonoma’s CEO), I knew the organization was in the hands of a visionary who could lead an organization with purpose, compassion, and genuine hard work–all the qualities I respect in a leader.  After meeting the other Board and staff members, who displayed similar qualities, all working together toward improving our community, I knew it was a group I wanted to be a part of.
